Drum Roll Please....

I know this is what all of you inquiring minds want to know...what are we having??? Well, we are excited to announce that we are having a boy and a girl....yeppie! Each time we go for an ultrasound we are truly amazed and this time was no different. They are perfect healthy little babies and it is crazy to see how much they have grown since December 1. The little girl weighs 10 oz and the little boy weighs 11 oz and both are about 9 inches long. They are actually ahead of their growth schedule by a week. If either of these babies is like Kane or me then we are going to end up with little chubby babies...I sure hope so!

They have gotten so big now that they don't fit in the same frame on the ultrasound anymore. Oh, I have also started to feel them flutter around...it is the best feeling in the world. I will be 19 weeks on Saturday. I can't believe I am going to be 5 months soon...time sure is flying by! We are going to pick out paint colors for their room this week. Their furniture came in before we left for Guadalajara. Before we know it our little ones will be here!

Thank you all for being so supportive and celebrating this wonderful time with us!

Feliz Navidad and Jose Cuervo

Well, as many of you know we spent Christmas in Guadalajara...can you say Feliz Navidad! We definitely had some interesting moments and I decided to post some of my favorite pictures...hope you all get a good laugh and enjoy.

Welcome to Mexico...

This is a picture with us and Mexico's most famous Mariachi Singer...we'll it is really a cut out, which is what makes this so funny to me. Chris Kane is really getting into the dance moves.
We also had a slight causality on the trip...a dove figurine bit the dust and BK came back with a black eye. Don't worry this was a one man accident and we weren't mugged on the streets of Guadalajara.

We did a lot while we were in town...I mean we were there for 8 days, so I am pretty sure we saw all there was to do. We also ventured to Tequila and went to the Jose Cuervo Factory. Don't be alarmed the picture below is not of lunch ladies, but indeed of the Kane family.

Yes, they make you wear hair nets while touring the factory...it was hysterical! Of course Kane wanted to get a picture of the whole family in hair nets...I mean when will this ever happen again.

While we were at Jose Cuervo we also managed to by the babies their first onesies. I hope this doesn't predestine them to be addicted to margaritas! Since at the time we didn't know if we were having boys, girls or one of each we opted to buy yellow onesies (they didn't have two in the same shade of yellow..oh well). We were also on the look out for two tiny sombreros, but never managed to find them. However, Kane did feel that since the babies were on the tour they needed to "wear" a hair net as well...

Now, on to Christmas Eve...it was kind of like being in the movie "A Christmas Story" Fra ra ra ra ra raa, ra ra ra raaa. We had Christmas Eve dinner at a Japanese Steakhouse, but talk about confusing...our servers were Asian women in traditional Asian garb, but speaking Spanish very very quickly. It really was pretty funny. The food was good and the company was great. GiGi seemed to enjoy her birthday and that is the most important thing. Here is a pic of the whole Kane clan...

So, on a couple of the days we went to Tlaquepaque (about 15 minutes from Guadalajara), which is known for it's shopping. Kane found this cow chair and we all had to get our picture made in it...it was a must on his to do list. After all he was the master photographer for the entire trip, so how could we say no....

Now, what trip to Mexico would be complete without a tiny Chihuahua in a sweater?? This little guy was just wondering around the town square in Ajijic (about 45 north of Guadalajara) and in the back ground they were blasting the Chipmunks Christmas in Spanish...it was very bizarre.

As you can tell we had a very adventurous Christmas! We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas as well!

Shoe Tying and Other New Challenges

So, we finally managed to find time to take a side shot of me at 16 weeks. It is amazing to see how much I am changing from week to week. This week I have learned that tying my shoes isn't as easy as it used to be. Who knew that bending over and other simple tasks would start to become grand accomplishments! I am coming to grips with the fact that I am not as svelte as I used to be and that tying my shoes may take up to5 minutes since I now have to maneuver around my belly.

Kane of course has been very helpful...don't get me wrong there is plenty of teasing involved, but he is nonetheless very helpful.

90 years and Counting...

Well, we went to Clinton, MS for my Grandmother's 90th birthday and we had a great time seeing everyone. I was 15 weeks on Saturday, December 6th.
Unfortunately we didn't get an "offical" side picture of me, but I thought I would post this funny close up of my belly that Kane decided to take. He also decided to take a close up of my rear, but I am protesting and will not post that picture. No woman needs a close up of her behind...especially pregnant. He thinks it is hysterical and managed to forward the picture to other family members...wise guy.

Also, please note from the other posted picture that a pregnant woman is not afraid to steal cake icing from a todder. Caroline was having a blast eating her gigantic piece of cake!

Tale of Two Karate Kids

Wax on, Wax Off...our little ones are regular karate kids! We went to meet with the specialist for the first time today and had an ultrasound (14 weeks and 2 days). It was amazing, but I think the coolest part of the experience was seeing how active our little ones are already. One of them literally did a flip...it was wild. The are definitely busy kicking and punching away, but I can't feel too much yet. We are pretty sure they will be fighting over space soon and if you have siblings you know this will continue for the rest of their/our lives. I can see the road trips now...Mom/Dad he's touching me! Oh the vacations we will have...

We don't know what we are having just yet, but we are 90% sure that Baby B is a boy...he was nice enough to flash us...hahaha! Baby A was a little more modest, but hopefully we will know when we go back on December 29th. From this point on we will go every 4 weeks for an ultrasound, so they can monitor the babies growth. Right now they are the same size weighing in at a whopping 1.06 oz and 1.08 oz...they are both roughly the size of lemons. It is funny to me that all of our books refer to the babies size starting out in the bean family and then moving through the produce section...not sure why this is.

Now moving on to belly shots...as promised attached is a weekly picture of me at 14 weeks and 1 day. Kane made me do a silly one, so you guys get to see me making an ass out of myself for his and your amusement. I have to say we are having a good time with this pregnancy...it is such a cool experience. I have gained a little weight since my last visit 2 weeks ago, but not too much. I am going to have to get over the fact that with twins I am going to be a whale or at least a giant beach ball! I will say that as predicted I was the most comfortable person on Thanksgiving day thanks to my fabulous maternity stretchy pants...this really should be a must for everyone during the holidays.

Well, I have probably rambled on long enough...I hope you all enjoy the pictures.

The Adventures of Dos Bebes Begins...

Hello Everyone! We decided to start a blog, so everyone can share this wild twin journey with us! We are going to try and update the blog weekly, so you can keep up with my ever growing belly and crazy pregnancy stories. Trust me I am taking these pictures for you and not me...no pregnant woman with twins is excited about having a picture of her profile taken...lol!

We thought it was only appropriate that we start this blog with a picture from our wedding day, when our lives together officially began. The past three years have been an amazing adventure and we are truly excited to be welcoming our two little ones into the world (in 6 short months).

Who would have thought when we met 6 years ago that we would be expecting twins on day...I know we didn't. We are very blessed to have such wonderful friends and family to share this journey with. We love you guys!

Thirteen Weeks and Counting...

Oh the joys of food cravings and bathroom trips! I am now officially 13 weeks and 3 days in this picture. I am pretty sure that my belly has grown from last week to this week - maybe we should start measuring.

Well, the babies are already getting me ready for the lack of sleep I am going to experience when they arrive. I would say on average I get up 2 times a night for a bathroom trip and 3 times a week for a nightly snack. Kane woke up at 3:00am the other night to find me eating a banana in bed...in the dark. He just laughed at me and rolled over. All I have to say is at least it was a banana and not a big mac...although that does sound good!

I will not divulge how much I have gained at this point, but the doctor assures me I am right on target. I will share that he informed me I should be prepared to gain 50 pounds...yes you read that correctly, 50 POUNDS!!! YIKES!! I immediately told Kane he has to stop working out and start eating with me...it is not fair to have a fit spouse as I become the Goodyear blimp!

Stay tuned...we are going to the doctor on Monday, December 1, 2008 for another ultrasound. We may be able to find out what we are having. Last week based on the heartbeats the doctor thinks we are having a boy and girl, but we will not know for sure until we see an ultrasound.

Are you sure there are only two in there??

Yes, I am sure there are only two and not three babies as some people have been so kind to ask. At 9 1/2 weeks someone at my office asked me what was going on..."honey you are getting a pot belly!" Yes, people can be so kind to pregnant women.

As you can see with two little ones I am showing a lot earlier than I would with one. I did read that with twins you show as if you are 6 to 8 weeks further along, which did make me feel better. In this picture I am 12 weeks and 2 days. We would have started taking pictures earlier, but I was a little superstitious and wanted to wait until I was about to be in my second trimester.

I finally made the transistion to maternity clothes this week and now I am wondering what took me so long. I say for Thanksgiving/Christmas everyone should wear maternity pants...they are SO COMFORTABLE!!

The Moment of Surprise

The Ultrasound Tech said, well both heartbeats look good. EXCUSE ME...both?? Oh yes, congratulations you are having twins!!

Well as you can imagine the moment we saw this ultrasound we were in total shock and disbelief! I started crying (its just what pregnant women do) and Kane started jumping around the room with excitement. After that we would just stare at the picture and then at each other until finally one of us would say...twins???

And so the story of Dos Bebes begins...
